The redheaded Irish girl was probably Maureen McMahon, she was in Garmisch for quite a while, slim but shapely, she now lives in London, where I saw her two years ago. I forget the other guys, but I worked on the ski lifts on the Osterfelder & used to share a puff with a lot of the ski patrol, bunch of great guys.

Andy,

That maybe her, If you see her again ask her if she remembers making a sweater for me and tell her I still have it! Your right everyone that was there 77-78 were a great group!! Had a blast with some great memories!!!

Dave ( Fred ) maybe my old roommate for a short time. I know he was Air Born cause he used to give me a hard time about being a grunt. He was a very likeable Guy. Do you remeber a Randy Lane? Do you know how to contact Dave???

Hi Maureen,

If you're the same lovely lady who was Andy's (Drew”s) friend and were in GAP from 1972 onward, I knew you as well. I first met that Maureen at the Green Arrow where I worked as kitchen help. I remember her wondering if I was making fun of her when I inadvertently slipped into an Irish accent as we spoke together. It was a natural thing because the lilt was and is captivating.

I hosted her and many others when I worked at the bowling alley and lived in the Sheridan Annex, several pounds and lots of lots hair ago.

If it's the same Maureen, I have somewhere a couple of great pictures of you (playing guitar I think) in my hovel at the Annex.

All the best to you (and you Drew).

Maureen, Happy days! How wonderful to hear from you old friend (emphasis on the friend rather than the old). Send me your email c/o arts@ckua.com and I'll be happy to send some pics, both yours & mine.

Whether you'll recognize me is a moot point but I'll also send one taken in Garmisch when I had a waist and a lot more hair to remind you of past friendship.

When I visited instead of worked in GAP, I always enjoyed staying at Haus Kornmuller, a few blocks from Marienplatz, but don't know if it still exists.

Look forward to hearing from you soon, and later to hear about your Garmisch trip.

Slainte,

Chris

Hi All,

I don't know if any of you will remember me - Pete Praksti - I was teaching tennis with Bill Adams in GAP from the Spring of '77 thru  Spring of '80.  Just before the Winter ski patrollers got in for try-outs, they always needed some guys/girls who could ski to go up and train on the Zugspitze.  I don't remember exactly why cause it was always storming up there and you could barely see.  But Sgt Willie (always forget his last name)  made sure I was up there.  He didn't like me.  Well, the good part was that during the Spring I was sent along to follow the beginner classes with that German couple Willie & Freida.  I guess to ensure that none of those GIs took off into the trees.  Don't know if anyone realized that we had an indoor tennis facility where we would teach tennis in the evenings. I tell ya, skiing during the day and tennis at night was not a bad way to spend a tour. Some of your names are familar - faces too but I couldn't match 'em up if my life depended on it. And that RED SWEATER...I remember someone trying to get a bunch of them for us...but it never happened.

Hi there!  Maureen McMahon Here!

There are a lot of red headed Irish and they are not all named Maureen McMahon. (Andrew Failes pls note)

I don't remember knitting any sweaters and I did not get back to Garmisch until October 1978 when I returned from Asia.   Got a picture of the sweater?  Maybe I DID knit it and have forgotten. It's a possibility :o)

dteel,

I spent the most memorable night of my life in 78 with a guy named Teel.  I called him “My Little DT” he was wearing a new knitted sweater that night. We both got drunk and we watched the sun come up together.

Hi Chris! That's me :o)

Don't usually hang out here but was thinking of going to Garmisch for a while and this site came up in my search for a place to stay while I am there.

Is there any way you could let me have copies of those pictures? You could email them to me? And one of yourself also?

Maureen

Hope you have a great time in Garmisch, Scottish Kate is still there, remember her she was once married to lover boy Jimmy the ski instructor. I believe she is a waitress at the Eibsee, & Bob Silver is also there, maybe even Bomber & Goldie. , I hope life is treating you well,

Best wishes,

Hi Chris, I am about to go to Thailand Nepal & eastern Tibet, but after sending my passport off for a Chinese visa it has gone amiss. Rachel is in Tibet going around Mt. Kailash, which is 18,700 feet a trip I did myself a few years ago, it is just wonderful. Nice to see Maureen is going to Garmisch, I wonder if it has changed much, I mean more houses etc? I was there briefly 5 years ago, but there was a foot of snow & I had a small Renault front wheel drive my friend lent me in Lyon, so it was difficult to get around too much, but it was a winter wonderland,

Best wishes,

Drew

Hey dteel... Dwayne!

Redheaded American here... I remember the redhead who could knit... but she was Scottish.  She knit me a sweater as well.  From the responses you've gotten... I'm still not certain what her name was.  I do remember that she and her friend were always very sweet and friendly to me.  Don't really remember Randy Lane too well, Dave “Fred” Bernier,  and Greg I remember well... but have lost touch with them.  Mark filled you in on Dave... last I heard from Greg was in 1985.  He was getting married to a woman from near where I was living in Colorado and stopped by to see me.  I've since lost touch with him.  I saw Suzie Norman, who he dated for a time before that, and she said she'd lost track of him as well.  I know he was from Michigan.  I remember the name John Kline... along with Randy's, but no faces to go with them.  I don't remember your face either.  I just arrived to GAP in Feb 77 and stayed until Oct 79.  Lots of names and faces came to that mailroom door!
