? Stopping for coffee at Java Junction on the Sugar Loaf Mountain Munich/Stuttgart Autobahn.
? Buying  gasoline at the QM station either in Seckenheim, Kornwestheim or Augsburg, and coffee in the EES Snack Bar.
? Visiting Stuttgart and enjoying a cool drink at the Crossroads Service Club on the second floor above the theater and across the street from the bahnhoff.
? Bridgett Bardot was the top billing film star in Europe.
? QM delivered milk, butter and bread to your quarters, both on and off-post.
? Sponsor Cards were needed to go home at night.  They were cream in color with green letters.
? You carried a Geneva Convention Card in your wallet.
? Waking up at 0600 to AFN playing reveille and then the words, “Good Morning soldiers.  It’s rise-n-shine and time for the Hillbilly Hit Parade”.
? Being woke-up by the claxton horn at Grafenwohr or Hornsfeld.
? Seeing the Bundespolizei driving a VW beetle as a police car on the autobahn.

? Turn signals that were little “fingers” that were mounted on the sides or your car, or the long swinging arms on the trucks.

? Herm going to work on his bike carrying his schnitzel bag.
? Seeing German men walking together and holding hands (and they were not gay).
? Only being allowed to sit at the stammtisch once you were accepted into the group.

? Ration Cards for Coffee, Tea and Class V.
? Rationed Gasoline Coupon Books based on the BHP of your automobile.
? Wearing of zipper jackets was a big “NO NO”.

? Going to the Wagon Wheel at Baumholder.
? Hearing JFK give his speech at Berlin and in so calling himself a doughnut.  (Footnote:  a Berliner is a doughnut).  What he said was, “Ich bin ein Berliner”  instead of  “Ich bin Berliner”.).
? Chiemsee Hotel had a bowling alley in the basement and a theater next to the banquet hall.
? The General Walker had a bowling alley in the second basement, along with a theater.
? Enjoying a good steak dinner with wine served on a tablecloth in a fine restaurant for DM 5.
