Received a letter from Dorian Welch that passed on the following letter:
I found a medallion in an antique shop in Western NY. A jpeg photo is attached. I assume it is a III infantry ski instructor badge from Ski-Top in Berchtesgaden but this is supposition. Do you have any insight into this pin and any history?

This badge, I would guess, is about the size of a quarter. On the top it says, BERCHTESGADEN. Across the middle are a set of skiis and on them it says, SKI SCHOOL SKY-TOP. The bottom of the circle are some leaves. Between the top and middle section is a gold curved wedge with “III“ inscribed.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the period of time this pin was issued?
I would have attached a copy of this, but it is in jpg format. I will send it on to Mark and maybe he can load it into the Photo Gallery section for everyone to see.
