If any of you are planning a trip to Europe make sure you read about the Vignette. Renting a car in Munich is the best bet as most all their cars have the Austrian Vignett already on the windshield. If not ask for a car with one. Here is good reading on the Vignette for all countries, Switzerland included: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignette_(road_tax)#Austria The folks in the Edelweiss Gift Shop informed me that a couple had been stopped in Austria and given a fine of some €400 . Austria requires all vehicles using the autobahn to display an “Autobahn Vignette” highway tax sticker on the inside of the vehicle’s windshield. The sticker may be purchased at border crossings, gas stations in Austria, and small “Tabak” shops located in Austrian towns. Fines for failing to display a valid autobahn vignette on the windshield of your car are usually around $120. Happy driving. JIM
