Oh how i wish I could join all of you. But I'll be in Seattle or someplace in the northwest with a bus load of visitors. I'll hoist a beer here and think of all of you there.

I think it'd be a good idea to hold the "Heaven to Hell" race (top of Steinplatte to Winkelmoos parkplatz) during that time. I realize it won't be the last day of skiing but would still be a hoot.

Not sure if it's been held since but I took 2nd back in 2002/3 with Steve Seltzer winning. Honig Schnapps at the kiosk.

Hi Stephen and everybody else out there!

This is Barbara Herrler writing. I am the one who had the kids, Danny and Christina. Lived at AFRC mostly, from 1979 to 1992. Did some time in B'Gaden, as well. I live near the Chiemsee, so if anybody is coming round, give me a call or drop me a line. The info is all on the website. Would love to meet again!

My telephone # is (Germany code) (0) 8621 58 60 31.

Hey Barb!  It is so great to see you are doing good. I hope you remember me, I was ther for the winter 80-81 season.  Wish I had seen the posting of the event for Cheimsee earlier and would have loved to see everyone again.  It as been a long time since I saw everyone.  I was lucky enough to spend my last night at Cheimsee the labor day weekend it closed ;(  had a good time walking around with Frau Brown, talking about all the wild timez that happen there.  next time I am in germany I will give you a call.  Work wise does not look like until sometime next year, but with the wife from Mannehim, you never know when we might come over.  Drop me a line. mark.s.russell@us.army.mil.

Best to you and I would not even know  Christina and Danny now. :)

HUGS!

Mark

ps, remember bubblegum lip gloss :) LOL

I am certain that I would not have known anyone but sure sorry to have missed this event due to last minute notice. Perhaps another time. I was the Medic at Chiemsee from 1968-1970 and had some of the best years of my life there; probably not unlike many who have stumbled upon this awesome website.

A couple of photos and some stories would be enjoyed I am sure..

Regards,

It's amazing what an impact "chiemsee" has had on so many people. It seems that no matter what social status has since been achieved and how many years have passed, the "magical" time at chiemsee is implanted somewhere inside, and it's never really gone. And a small yearning is ever present, memories pop up out of nowhere and one would just love to live just another one of those days....
My brother and I spent time at Chiemsee as small kids, and then I spent more time as a Teen/young adult and I really like, what "Chiemsee" has done to me. It's left an island of memories I can retire to every once in a while, that puts a smile on my face and leaves just the slightest bit of pain, because those days are gone, and gone for good.
Reading the entries on this web site made me realize just how many people must be feeling similar! Must have really been a magical place!!
Regards to all!

Barbara...just came back from my first trip to Germany since I left in 1990. Of course Chiemsee was all fenced off and I was unable to see anything. I didn't realize you were in the area or I would have called. Should have checked this board before I went not after. My number is still the same   408-605-0931. Laura Collier
