I walked into the Strub Disco as we were calling the club then, ordered up my first daily Wiessbier with a slice a lemon and picked up from an over heard conversation that some one had tried to shot Reagan in Washington DC. At first I was thinking it might be a joke in poor taste not that Reagan was my favorite person by any choice, Hell I even would try by hand at a little reagan impersonation from time to time, but Christ if Reagan got shot then Bush would be president and I could only try to imagine what amewrica would be like if Bush was President. When I went to the bathroom somebody had already written on the wall above the urinal, "Where is Lee Harvey Oswald when his country nees him most?" Now I know that pissed off every republican who reads it but that was what happened 25 years ago. I just retold the events from the days when America went in 12 years from the largest lending nation to the largest debtor nation. So let's have a beer and talk about the good old days when the guys had hair, our moustashe wasn't gray, and the girls were firm, could wiggle and squirm, and they made us ...
ah those were the days... but the scareiest thing is that for the next generation these will be the good old days.

Hey Dave,
That spring I was often at Chiemsee and may have had a beer with you back then. I spent about 90 days state side but i was back in late summer and got a job in Berchtesgaden but spent a lot of time at Chiemseein the Spring and the fall. I was friends with John and Pam back then. They live here in Seattle but I seldon see them these days.

Hey Joe, I am sure we probably did tilt a few. What was Johns last name ? Was he a sailing instructor and have a brother that was over there also. Not sure if we are thinking of the same person. I would probably recognize him in a picture. Dave

I think that was Sailor John that had a brother there. It seems that we had a Sailor John, Lawyer John, and John of John and Pam. I think Sailor John was also known as English John. It was always kind of funny how last names were seldom used and there seemed to be a number of johns that we needed to be able to keep straight as far as who was who. Joe P.

Remember that like it was yesterday. Was living in Kitzengen, just leaving to go to Garmisch for the two weeks of training before going to Chiemsee for what would be the greatest summer of my life. I resemble the remark about the thinning hair and the gray in the mustache, do agree with the political viewpoint as I sit here looking at a picture in my office of my two kids with Bill Clinton when he was President. Dave ( Smitty ) Smith P.S. The Weiss Bier sounds good too, think I will have one when I get home.
