Hi Dave

Following up with you were you with the 508th, 793rd, or 536th.  I guess the 508th left in 65 I think, and the 793rd took over.  We sure have alot of fun in Branson MO every year.  Our veterans range in age from 64 to 96, even a battalion commander from the 40's showed up the last two years.

My Dad, Charlie Henderson (Intrnational Bar & Grill Manager 1970 -1973) was a MP in Garmisch in 1960 -1963. Any body remember him as an MP?

Not having any luck with info on your Dad, are you sure he was in the 508th or was he in the 142nd in Garmisch. We are still checking it out but so far we have only come up with a Wayne Henderson from 1957 in D Company Garmisch with the 508th.

I am not sure what unit it was that Dad was in. However it was from 1960 to 62 in Garmisch. The MP station was in the same complex as the PX and commisary.  In 1962-1963, My Dad , SP-5 Charles (Charlie) Henderson worked in the AFRC Headquarters. 1966-1967 he was an instructor/ Tac Sgt at The Seventh Army NCO Acad. Bad Tolz. 1967-1968 He was back at AFRC Headquarters as an E-7. Retired in 68. Returned to Garmisch in 1969 as a civilian and was International Bar & Grill Manager 1970 to beginning of 1974.

The 508th MP Bn recently had its 6th Annual Reunion in Branson Mo.  There were several MP veterans from Berchtesgaden, Garmish, Munich, Augsburg, etc that attended this last time, if there are any veterans that read or watch this great site please contact me for information about our association and the reunions.

Thank You

I  originally arrived in Germany via the  165th MP company  in Fishbach b. dahn, a security company,  in November '64.   In late  Oct, '65 I  was   fortunate  enough to  go   white   hat  duty  with the   536th  MP company  in Muhich.  From there  there  was a  Platoon in Bad  Tolz, with the    10th  special Forces  et al.  From Munich, I  was sent to  Bad  Tolz in November 65.  In Mid  January? I was  sent  to    Berchtesgaden,  which  had  a  squad  based from the  Platoon  in  Bad  Tol.   So  from  Jan  66' To  April 67, I  spent   such  hard  duty   in   the  Gaden.   April   67, I  was   returned  bach to Munich,  as  I  was   being  discharged  in  June  of   67.

My  wife to  be  and  I traveled to   Europe  for  about    3  1/2 weeks in July-August 1999.  and  part  of  that  time was a  return to   B'Gaden.   Such   changes and a bit   mind  boggling to  say  the  least.   I  was able to connect   up  with  Kurt  Engler, our   interpretor, during  my  original stay  in B'Gaden.   He   has  not  really  changed  all  that   much, from when I  last  saw  in  in  '67  to    32   years  later   in '99.   He  still  had  that    smile, chuckle  and  sense of   humor.    He  and  his  wife own  and  operate a womens clothing  shop,  Near  the  Marketplatz.  Other  than  that,  I still found  the  people to  be friendly and a  bit  outgoing.   Do  I wish to  return?  Not sure  on that  front.....maybe a reunion  there  some day,  might   get  my interet to stir a  bit.

Stay  in touch and hoist a   beer ...........!!!!!!!!   (or     twelve)

Regards...
