Here is the latest information on the interview process.  If you know of anyone this might be a chance of a lifetime.

Please see below for Interview Schedule.

Thank you for your interest in the Armed Forces Recreation Center 'Edelweiss Lodge and Resort' in Europe, a resort area in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the state of Bavaria, Germany. We operate a hotel complete with Wellness Center, Pool and Fitness Center, a ski school, a mountaineering school, and we run a variety of tours and other recreational activities throughout the year for US Service Members and their families who are stationed overseas. We have a dynamic team of hospitality enthusiasts working for us in Germany, and we fly successful candidates from the US to Europe, and return them to the US after the completion of their limited tenure appointments.

Appointments for Hotel Positions/Recreation Aid Positions are for 13 months, starting throughout the year.

Appointments for Recreation Instruction (Winter only) are for 6 months, with a starting time of November/December.

In addition, we provide college-style dorm accommodations at a nominal fee (about $30.00 a month). Single room accommodation is not available. The average age of our employees is 24-26. Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodation for families or non-working spouses, and no pets are allowed in our housing facility.

Our positions are Entry Level positions only, in the Housekeeping, Kitchen, Dining and Recreation departments, with starting rates of $7.56 - $8.18 an hour. Recreation positions are both skilled (Ski/Snowboard Instructing; 6 month commitment) and non-skilled (Recreation Aid: a combination of Front Desk, Information, Ski Equipment Issue and Custodial work, 13 month commitment). Recreation Instruction position starting rates are similar to our Entry Level positions, depending on experience/certification. Other positions (Front Desk, Clerical etc.) are hired almost exclusively from within.

A number of other positions are advertised when available.

Culinary Positions are available in our various dining facilities; starting rates depend on the levels of experience and education.

All appointments are between 20 and 40 hours a week, depending on the fluctuation of the seasons. The average working week is 32 hours. We do not have any management positions available at this time.

All applicants must be US citizens, and they must be able to pass a background check with no derogatory information.

We are looking for friendly, happy, lively, enthusiastic people with easy

communication skills, a good work ethic and a good attitude, flexible in

moving through our various fast-paced departments as the need arises. This makes for an interesting 13 months, giving employees the opportunity to experience first hand the scope of the entry-level Hotel/Recreation world.

One year of post-High School employment in the hospitality industry or one year of post High School education is the minimum required experience foremployment with Edelweiss Lodge and Resort for all positions. Some positions may have additional requirements; please see our web site for further information.

Employees are civilian employees of the Department of Defense; military enlistment is not required.
