Hi Jerry, I left Garmisch in 79 after 9 years on & off, between trips to India. Glad to hear Kate is still there. How about her ex,  Jimmy Murray, playboy cum ski instuctor? Bob Silver? Bomber & Goldie?. Any ex Garmischers around the NY. Vt. Mass. border area. I have lived up here in Petersburgh on 40 beautiful acres for 20 years, love it. Williamstown of Williams college fame is 14 miles away & Bennington, VT. less than 20 minutes.

Best wishes,

Drew (Andy) Failes

Had a great time in Garmisch , got there the day after the flooding, they were already cleaning up. Golf course was flooded and some fields, but most of the water was gone by the weekend.

Saw a few old faces, Scottish Kate at the Eibsee Alm was the first, she told us about Big Johns photo shop in Partinkirchen, {Ludwigstr. 94  82468 Garmisch,email: foto.bigjohn@t-online.de } he's doing good. saw Henry K, Mick Jagger, Kurt Kren , Leigh Ploughman and a few others. Most of the old AFRC buildings are empty , deserted , and run down, I've got some pics that I will post later. The new hotel looks good , can't get near it or any AFRC property unless you have ID, lots of security, fences around everything.

It is still a great feeling when you come into town and first see the mountian is really is like coming home again!

We did find a great place to stay http://www.reiter-gap.com/  prices were good 70 Euros a night for 3 people, not too far from town if you walk, about 1 k from the pink church and cheap chicken{lol}

Will post pics soon.

 Hope anyone that is, or has friends and family in the southern states are ok,that was truely a flood. Later Jerry L
