Sadly John Dove passed away on Friday May 7th.  John worked for many years down stairs in the old Garmisch Sports Shop mounting skis.  He left Garmisch when his wife died and went back to the States but came back after he could not settle down.  A lot of the old Garmischer’s looked after him his last months especially Keith Eades (tour guide).

Hello Sue,

Just found this web-site last week.  I was stationed in GAP from 1978 thru 1980 and knew John quite well.  I worked with him for a couple of years below the old sports shop mounting bindings and stringing racquets.  He was a real pleasure to know and work with.  Good to know that Keith and others were taking care of him.   I also know Keith Eades quite well too.  He drove my wife and I to the airport after our last visit.  I've been trying to get in touch with “the King's twin” via Paul Dutro, an original Garmischer, for quite a while now.  Maybe you could pass on his address or email if you have it.

Thanks.

Pete
