I was checking out the web and I found
http://www.lostplaces.de/tankstellen/
Now a site on Gas Stations that used to be in Germany doesn't sound to exciting but look in the middle of the page and there is a picture of pictures of Rasthaus Am Chiemsee and check out the 3 small ones.
The one on the left shows the area above the walk way between the bar and the main dining room as I never saw it before.
Sure it is an old picture but it was new to me I never saw it before.
Now as I seem to recall there was, once apon a time some TDYers that repelled down from there into the kitchen for steaks to grill... humm.
Hey it is past the statue of limitations so it is ok to discuss it..

JOE:

The following photo (taken in 1940) is the hall between the kitchen and the outside.  Before the last renovation, this small hall paralled the kitchen area.  After the renovation the hall was widened.

              Rasthaus Chiemsee - Inneneinrichtung

Look out the windows on the left and you would see the beach area and terrace.

This photo is looking south, towards the double doors.  Beyond those doors was the Managers Office.  To the left was the Grand Ball Room.  To the right you could either go out or up the stairs to the second floor.  On the second floor the Water Patrol lived for several years, until they moved over to the cender block house.

There used to be many autobahn gas stations that belonged to the U.S. Army.

CHIEMSEE:  EES/QM Station        (What last was the AAFEES (PX) next to the camp grounds)

BERCHTESGADEN:  EES/QM Station    (located in the Stanggass Kaserne)

GARMISCH:  EES/QM Station  (located at the old PX area downtown Garmisch)

MUNICH:  EES/QM Station  (located at McGraw Kaserne)

JAVA JUNCTION:  EES/QM Station and Snack Bar  (located on Sugar Loaf Mountain half way between Stuttgart and Ulm.)

AUGSBURG:  EES/QM Station (on autobahn at the Sheridan Kaserne exit)

So many so long ago.  Many torn down and some rebuilt.

Good memories good times.
