I would occasionaly get tasked to help with different groups rather then just the usual tours. I remember one time being tasked to help a bunch of Canadian Boy Scouts who were going canoeing on the same river the Kayakers. All that I had to do was drive the little blue and white Mercedes 14 pax van with a canoe trailer behind it. I'm driving along and and the scout master announces this is where he wants to launch. I pull over and there is no place to launch but they have this plan. Litteraly flip the canoe into the water and is it gets pushed into the turnagainst the shore the Boy Scouts will jump in. I'm not good on water in water or around water so I figured it was a joke. Nope they would flip the canoes in the water the current would force the canoe to the shore along the curve, two Boy Scouts would jump in and away they went.
I flipped the last one the water for them and the the Scout leader jumped in and away they went.
The kayker would some times come back and talk about that stretch of water way and these kids were JUMPING into canoes as the floated by. I was blown away. I came back to Chiemsee and Frau Braun wanted to know what happen to the group and I told here they had jumped and the canoes as they floated by and would be paddling back across the lake. She asked what time I was supposed to pick them up and I told her they were coming back on thier own. Others would ask how it went and I would tell them and nobody believed me. I was seriously concerned about one one adult and 11 or 12 kids shooting a fast flowing river and canoeing back to the hotel, but sure enough about an hour before it was dark here they came, just as happy as if they were
