I remember in the summer doing platform boat rides down the Salzach from Tittmoning to Berghausen I believe. I always ended up driving the support van with the beer, brats, steaks. everything else people would buy from the Gasthaus we used.
We always had to take old wooden kegs for the appearence and the damn things weighed almost as much empty as they did full.
Anything that got opened couldn't be turned in and so it had to be disposed. My favorite place to dispose of everything was the Waldheim. A lot of people used to look forward to what ever had to be disposed. Gee showing up at the Waldhiem with beer, steaks and brats that had to be disposed of. Oh yeah it was a rough time in life.
On the way back to Chiemsee I would often make a stop at a place where a guy had taken part of his back yard and his Garage and turned it into a trout farm and pick up smoked trout to bring back with me to go with the steak and beer.
A far cry from the rainy Seattle day ahead arranging and directing movement for a couple of thousand people attending the SIR conference this week-end.
In the days of Chiemsee and Berchtesgaden it would be skiiing, a break in a hutte on the slopes, lunch on the slopes, an afternoon break, back to Chiemsee, dinner and then a night in the bar daning and drink and the next morning back to the ski slopes. I didn't mention the time after the Bar and the next morning just in case anybody has a kid read the site and then ask Mom and Dad if they did anything like that, the deleated part.
Of course we would never do things we don't want our kids to do. *grin* Oh wait, that is how the kids came about in the first place.
Most people wouldn't believe a lot of the stories we all can share but thinking back on them and when we see people doing some of the same things that we once did we can smile and think to ourselves, that is just silly, but enjoy it.
