Dear, I am going to prepare the second edition of my book “Hitlers zweite Reichskanzlei” and I really would like to tell more about the time of the US-Army using that building! It’s an important time and fact when enemies became friends! It would be great if you could send this to others who maybe could help me, too! I did not find very much about the STANGGASSE KASERNE HEADQUARTERS AFRC BERCHTESGADEN. I have been there several times, even found articles of the time 1937 – 1945 of this building or photos made by the Royal Air Force in April 1945. But in my book the time of the US-Army is just a few pages, there isn’t told very much and there are no pics about that time, too! Maybe there have to be some articles in the TIME magazine or STARS & STRIPES? Are there no pics of the years 1945 to 1997? This building was an official Reichschancellery and therefore one of the most important buildings in the Third Reich. And this one was not destroyed as the other ones like the Berlin Reichschancellery or the Berghof! Therefor there must have been a great interest by the US-Army members, too, mustn’t it? This building was the only place in Germany where an administration office which was used by Hitler in person could be watched! Please excuse my bad English! I did not practice it for many years! Yours sincerely Gunther Exner
